Mission Critical Volunteer Opportunities

Petsmart in Franklin cleaning/maintenance – The store employees maintain the adoption center but they’ve been so short staffed that they are struggling. We’d like to have 1, 2, or more volunteers commit to one day a week for some general cleaning and tidying up. We only have 3 of the 6 cages. It takes about 20-30 minutes + any playtime and can be done anytime the store is open, day or night. All supplies are provided.

ShelterLuv Database Guru – When we bring cats into the rescue and under our care, we must enter them into the cloud-based shelter management software. You’d receive the info in various formats: picture of the shelter’s medical paperwork, a text from the volunteer, pictures of the cats, etc. Also, entering foster families into the system and assigning cats to them. It can be done on a smartphone or a desktop. You must have reliable wifi and your own smartphone and/or desktop computer. Estimated time commitment per week is about an hour but fluctuates slightly higher during our busiest time (summer’s kitten season). The software is very easy to use and quite intuitive. We will train you, promise!

Warehouse Manager – We have a 10’x20’ storage unit on the southside of Shelbyville filled with everything cat rescue-related, including food, litter, crates, carriers, litter boxes, toys, etc. The volunteer will identify what supplies are at our necessary minimum levels and coordinate getting restocked on low inventory items, notifying fosters what items we have that they could be using in their foster home, maintaining sanity in the storage unit. We did just move into the storage unit in October and it’s in pretty great shape but we have identified some things we want to change. The Warehouse Manager would spearhead improvements and organization.
